New Players
So your character was approved. Congratulations! Before you head for the IC world, you'll need to do a couple of things.
Must be done before playing!
- Please change your password: @password (old one)=(new one) .
- You need to set your 'description'. This is what people will see when they look at you:
> @desc me=(The description you wrote on your application)
- Trainers should name and describe their pokemon. See +help pokedex. Even if your pokemon has no name (like Pikachu), you need to name it to Pikachu or its name will show as 001pikachu.
- Read our rules page. If you start playing we'll assume you've read, understand, and agree to our rules.
Things to do as soon as possible:
You can start playing before doing the following things, but we strongly recommend reading them ASAP:
- Catch up with old posts on the Announce board. '+bbread 5' will show you the posts. This is the board wizards use to post information players need to know.
- If you are a trainer, read 'news catching' and 'news speeding'.
- Read the posts on the Public board (+bbread 1) and the IC News Board (+bbread 3) The Public board gives general information, and the IC News board will tell you about upcoming storylines you can get involved with.
- Trainers should read through '+help pokeball', '+help pokedex', and '+help
computer' for help using your Pokeball, Pokedex, and the Storage Computer.
- Pokeplayers should read '+help pokemon'.
Things to do when you have time:
- Look over the 'news battle.'
- Look at +help, this will show you all the nifty programs we have.
- Read through the other news files. Typing 'news' will show you the list.
- Read through the other boards, especially the Hints and Tips board. +bbread will show you the list of all the boards.
- Look at +pokeinfo. Pokemon sizes, weights, and some attacks differ from the games.
- Contact a wizard if you'd like a position listed in your finger.
- Type '+channels' to see which channels you can join.
Handy dandy tricks:
- Using the @mail system:
@mail (name)=(subject)
-(message)
@mail/send
The - before the message is very important.
- See +help channels for use of our comm system.
- To know when someone is looking at you:
@set me=adesc:@pemit me=>> %%N just looked at you!
- Trainers, set this to return your pokemon to their pokeballs when you log out:
@set me=adisconnect:+return/force
- To know which staff member to page for what: Check +staff to see our duties,
and who is on duty or off. Please do not page people who are off-duty.
