In the world of Pokemon, technology is wide ranged and for the most part covers almost every single technological level available; from stone tools to near nanotechnology, this world has it. However, availability is another issue.
While towns and cities have most of the conveniences we all know and are used to, cars and trucks are suprisingly absent, bicycles usually being the primary mode of transportation within a town. Cars, trucks and the like are used primarily to get from city to city, with vast expanses of open field.
On the outskirts of cities, especially near waterfront towns, people tend to lead simpler lives. Houses seem older and less technologically advanced (save for perhaps Gringy City, and tourist towns such as Porta Vista). Most waterfront towns seem rather quaint, receiving income primarily through fishing. Bicycles and carts pulled by animals/pokemon are the most common ground transportation. Most things are done simply and old fashioned. Trees are felled with axes, not with chainsaws, for example. The most advanced technology seen around these areas are gas powered boats and yachts.
In large, sprawling cities, like Neon Town and Celedon, technology levels meet the near science fiction. These cities house large technologically advanced corporations, such as the Silph Company, which use transport warp tiles to get from place to place inside office buildings. Also, in these places the video-phones act as 'object faxes', in which people can transfer items using a similar system to the warp tiles. Please note: Objects of these types are not common, and would only be available to the richest of companies. Individuals will not have access to them.
Weaponry in this world varies as well, knives and pistols being the most common. However, certain people (Team Rocket, PokeForce), have access to stranger weapons, such as ice blasters, rocket launchers, bubble guns, net launchers, and cannon equipped hot air balloons. These weapons are definitely not common, and the average person will not have access to them.
General rule on weapons: The average citizen does not have a gun, therefore if you're not a cop, you must be a bad guy if you own one.
The average young trainer will perhaps have a bicycle, and perhaps nothing more advanced than a pocket knife. This should allow a person to get from place to place without much problem. Fundage may vary, but most young trainers are not wealthy. The average adult trainer will possibly have a job, and be able to afford and use a motorized scooter or sometimes a motorcycle/car. They usually have enough money for regular upkeep. The average Team Rocket or police member will have much at hand, but odds are, none of them actually own any of their equipment. Guns, the stranger weapons, as well as knives and other bizarre weaponry fill both camps. However, PokeForce travels primarily on motorcycles and patrol cars while Team Rocket generally has almost any bizarre transport you can think of, within the boundaries of big city technology, due to corporate backing. The average citizen does not 'pack' a weapon past a pocket knife.
Absolutely prohibited technology would be anything bordering on 100%% military vehicles, such as tanks and howitzers; advanced explosives (i.e. grenades) are not common either. No character without staff approval should have a car, private jet, yacht, or other extremely expensive form of transport available. Under no circumstances will a character have direct damage high tech weapons, such as lasers and plasma rifles.
