Catching

How to catch a Pokemon:

First: Find one! Watch the @doings, the staff will list it there when they're out. Look for (puppet) or .

Second: Find it! Oh, wait, that's what I called the first step. Well, using the Pokemon Puppet Map (pokemon.mushpark.com/pupmap.html) go find it! *Remember!* No speeding! Wait at least 60 seconds in each room. (No one can ICly move at the speed of light.) Please read 'news speeding' for more information.

Found it? Good! Now pose! (Anyone who spots a puppet and attacks or sees it in the first pose will not be permitted to continue. We're here to RP, folks, everyone, staff and players.) You pose arriving, then the puppet poses either being there or otherwise sets the scene. Remember: You ICly cannotsee the puppet when you first OOCly arrive in the room! You only know it'sthere OOCly, you have to wait until you see it ICly before you can ICly spot it.

Like life (well, kinda), it's 'first come, first serve'. The person who finds it first may try for it. Anyone who arrives after can RP watching.

Remember, since everything is IC here the battle or encounter is totally posed. No longer will a trainer have to beat a wild pokemon's brains out before being able to try to catch it (though that is still the most common way). You pose the fight or pose trying to bribe it with food or whatever, then when the time is right you pose throwing the pokeball.

You kicked some puppet butt or got it to want to join you? Great! Now you just have to pose throwing your Pokeball, and watch it rock... (Use the +throw command to see if it works.) Trainers may make one more attempt if the first fails, but it's up to the person running the puppet if they wish to make an escape in between the throws. Two misses and the puppet is gone for good. Unless...

Watching, and see the trainer who arrived first missed the capture roll? Well be a good sport and don't point and laugh... but you DO get to try now! The second person who arrived can try to throw the Pokeball. If he fails, then the pokemon can make an escape or stick around. If the pokemon runs then it's gone, if not then the third trainer can try, and so on down the line.

After the fight: The person running the puppet will do everything that needs to be done to give you the pokemon. It'll appear in your Pokeball or computer, depending on how many you have.

Other notes: *Only one puppet may be caught per week!* And second: Only one try per day. Often times a staffer will run a number of them in a row. We'd rather give everyone a chance than run them for the same people over and over.

Note on weeks: The new week starts one minute into Monday (late Sunday night). And remember, we're running on pacific time as our "official" time.
